Championship week at NR Golf Club

Andrew Zywiec won the New Richmond Golf Club men's club championship, defeating Chad Knutson in a playoff for the tournament's top honor.

Last week was championship week at the New Richmond Golf Club, with the club championships decided at all levels ranging from seniors to youth golfers.

The men's club championship needed a playoff to decide the winner. Former New Richmond High School golfers Andrew Zywiec and Chad Knutson ended up deadlocked, with Zywiec winning his first NRGC club championship in a playoff. They both had scores of 146. Sam Strachan finished at 147 and Jason Zahradka ended at 149.

Men's First Gross: Joel Emerson 156, Tim Seim 160. Net: Eric Meyer 140, Mark Casey 140

Men's Second Gross: Matt Casey 169, Dan Wells 172. Net: Rick Zywiec 144, Adam Kobs 151

Senior Men's Gross: Tim Anderson 156, Mike Peterson 158. Net: Brian Maul 144, Steve Johnson 144

Senior Men First Gross: Roger Beestman 170, Steve Campbell 177. Net: John Strenger 143, Rogers Ferguson 148.

Women Championship Gross: Molly Ohm 174, Jodi Chelberg 180. Net: Diane Wonderly 148, Anne Anez 149.

The youth championship were also decided last week. More than 120 kids took part in the youth golf program at NRGC this summer. Winners in the different youth divisions are pictured.

Not pictured are the high school division champions. Rebecca Ziller won the girls division title and Ben Poppovich took first place in the boys division with Nick Anderson placing second. Also not pictured are the top finishers in the girls 9 and under division. They are Rylie Martineau, first; Sammi Morrissey, second; and Lily Gess, third.
