Tanner Milliron earns top UW-River Falls athletic award

New Richmond native Tanner Milliron has received the honor as the Top Male Athlete at UW-River Falls for the 2014-15 school year.

Milliron was bestowed with the Don Page Award for his outstanding play with the Falcon men’s hockey team over the winter. Milliron played every second in goal for the Falcons in 2014-15. He finished the year with a 20-7-1 record with a 2.18 goals against average and a .927 saves percentage. He recorded three shutouts. Milliron help the Falcons win the 2015 WIAC Playoff Championship. He was named to the All-WIAC first team. With Milliron in goal, the Falcons won their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Conference playoff title since 1996.

Milliron had an impactful school year, on and off the ice. He is the president of the UW-River Falls Student Athletic Advisory Committee and he also sits on the NCAA national committee for that group. He is an executive board member of the UW-River Falls Student Senate. He is the student representative to the UW-River Falls Hall of Fame committee. He is also the student representative for the UW-River Falls Faculty Athletic Committee.

“Tanner is the backbone of our hockey team and a wonderful student-athlete and representative of our program,” UW-River Falls men’s hockey coach Steve Freeman wrote in nominating Milliron for the award.
