Local runners can enjoy two upcoming events

The New Richmond Running Club encourages your participation in two upcoming events, the Nov. 24 Thanksgiving Day Run and the Nov. 26 Saliny Ugly Sweater Run.

Both events have a long-standing tradition in New Richmond and are a fun way to start the holiday season and help some worthy organizations as well.

The Nov. 24 Thanksgiving Day Run begins at 8 a.m. from the First National Community Bank parking lot. Runners are encouraged to bring food items for the Five Loaves Food Shelf such as canned meats, raisins, honey, peanut butter, baking products, and whole grain cereals. A drawing will be held for homemade pies before the social run of four-to-five miles begins. Contact Jim Heebink at 715-246-5137 for additional details.

On Saturday, Nov. 26, the Saliny Ugly Sweater 10K & 5K Run will start at the First National Community Bank parking lot at 9 a.m. This is also a fun run with participants encouraged to run or walk in their ugliest sweater and bring a new unwrapped toy that will be donated to the local Toys for Tots program.
