The Polk County Lakers and Rockets Special Olympics baseketball teams competed in Oshkosh, where the state competition games for basketball were held.

They qualified  after earning advancement at games in Stevens Point

The Lakers lost their first game at Oshkosh, but won the second game after a close battle with a tough team, giving them a third place bronze medal.

The Rockets lost both hard fought games, sending them home with fourth place ribbons.  Both teams played their best.

It is a privilege for these teams to make it to state competition. And as stated at each opening ceremonies in the S.O. pledge: "Let me win, but if I can not win, let me be brave in the attempt."

Polk County had two very brave teams represent Polk County at State.
