New Richmond boys hockey stuns Somerset, 8-1

The rivalry between the New Richmond and Somerset boys hockey teams seems to always produce a close, exciting game.

That was the case for two periods on Thursday night. New Richmond led 2-0 heading into the third period. The Tigers then erupted for six goals in the third period, burying the Spartans 8-1.

New Richmond got a big boost when the third line produced the first goal of the game, with Cole Hansen scoring with 5:57 left in the first period.

Jeremy Leavens scored early in the second period to raise the Tigers' lead to 2-0.

Tanner Wisemiller started the Tiger onslaught in the third period. Nick Lubow, Maxx Wisemiller, Leavens, Tanner Wisemiller and Leavens scored later in the period.

Aaron Moore scored Somerset's only goal.
