Somerset’s Bryan Witzmann saw his first NFL season end far too quickly.

Witzmann was placed on the injured reserve on Sunday after passing through waivers without being claimed. Witzmann is a rookie offensive tackle with the Houston Texans.

Witzmann reportedly suffered a right arm/shoulder injury. He was reportedly injured during a collision in practice on July 29.

He is an undrafted rookie with the Texans out of South Dakota State University. Reports had Witzmann getting favorable comments from Houston head coach Bill O’Brien for his early work in training camp. Witzmann was one of several candidates in the mix for playing time at right tackle for the Texans. Witzmann’s ability to play at the left and right tackle positions was helping his chances of making the Texans’ roster. Witzmann had played left tackle in college, starting all 49 games of his career at SDSU.

Witzmann is a 2009 graduate of Somerset High School.
