St. Croix Central duo stands out at WFCA All-Star Game

St. Croix Central seniors Trevor Nelson (12) and Jordan Winegar (68) both played key roles for the North offense at the 2017 WFCA All-Star Game on July 15 in Oshkosh. They are shown with Central head coach Tony DiSalvo.

St. Croix Central’s Trevor Nelson and Jordan Winegar both stood out with their play at the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Games on July 15 at Titan Stadium on the UW-Oshkosh campus.

Nelson and Winegar both played for the small school North team, which lost to the South team, 25-20.

Nelson’s recognition began before the game even started. He was voted as one of the captains of the North squad and he spoke on behalf of the team at the all-star banquet.

Both players saw extensive playing time on the North offense. Nelson played tight end, catching one pass, but it was a big one. He caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, which gave the North a 14-6 lead.

Winegar played extensively as an offensive lineman for the North team. He also did all the long snapping on special teams.

Both former Panthers will be starting their college football careers soon. Winegar is planning on attending Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. Nelson is set to attend UW-Eau Claire.
