Scott Spoo dedication event held in St. Paul
The Scott Spoo dedication event was held in St. Paul on May 17, drawing a large crowd despite inclement weather.
Spoo, 35, was a New Richmond native who was killed while jogging in a hit-and-run accident in St. Paul in February.
Spoo worked as an engineer at 3M and was active in all sorts of outdoor activities, with biking topping the list. In his memory, his friends, co-workers and family began the Scott Spoo Memorial Fund. More than $22,000 has been donated to the fund. More information on the fund can be found at www.bikemn.org. Donations can also be made to the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, P.O. Box 5078, St. Paul, MN 55101.
The May 17 event was held at Battle Creek Park in St. Paul, with more than 100 people in attendance. The event was organized by the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota and the 3M Bicycle User Group. As part of the event, a bike fix-it station was placed in the park in Scott’s memory. Another event is planned this summer at Carver Lake to install another fix-it station.
