DNR working on wolf study

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Matt Frank says the agency is working on a study of wolves.

He says it has been 10 years since the agency reviewed the wolf management plan.

When it was first proposed Frank says wolves were at a much different place than they are now, noting Wisconsin has seen success in growing the population.

Frank calls it an incredible story with wolves at one point being extinct in Wisconsin.

Now he says they have to come back to the point they are no longer on the endangered and threatened list in the region.

He says the DNR will give the Natural Resources Board a comprehensive plan next year that includes research on how the animals are doing in their habit as well as population modeling.
