Public asked to comment on parks, trails

The New Richmond Park Board is inviting all residents of the New Richmond School District to a community input meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. at the New Richmond Civic Center's lower conference room #2, located at 156 E. First St.

The purpose of the meeting is to incorporate public participation into the planning, development and amending of New Richmond's Outdoor Recreation Plan. The plan is the city's vision to address the public's outdoor recreation needs over the next five years. It will also be used as a work guide that allows the city to be eligible for state and federal funding.

The first part of the meeting will consist of a PowerPoint presentation showing current park facilities and the amenities they have to offer. This will be followed by discussion about amenities area residents would, or would not, like to see in the park system.

The second part of the meeting will involve the city's Pathway and Pedestrian Plan showing what has been completed and what is planned for the near future. City officials will then ask for suggestions on additional trails and the priority of development.

Prior to the end of the meeting, participants will be asked to fill out a short park survey. Area residents may also access this survey after the meeting on the city's website at under "Park Survey" tab.

On Wednesday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m., the community will once again be invited to view the results of the first outdoor recreation meeting and provide additional comments. This will also be held at the New Richmond Civic Center's lower conference room #2.
