So, when Harrold's Hometown Holidays button design was selected to represent the newly created New Richmond holiday celebration, she was surprised to say the least.
After growing a small plot of pumpkins on his family's land last year, 10-year-old Roberts resident and fifth grade St. Croix Central Elementary student Thomas Iverson wanted to go bigger for his second foray into pumpkin growing. "We planted 1,500 seeds by hand, which was actually pretty fun. Then about 1,300 came up," Iverson said. "This is the first year with the actual business. I decided that I wanted to do it because I thought growing pumpkins was fun. Once we got the house, we had an acre of land and had nothing to put in it, so I decided 'let's put in pumpkins!"

New Richmond teen Samantha Cook, 18, found out after entering an email contest to be part of rapper NF's latest music video, "Outcast," which was released on Oct. 5. "This was probably one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever had! During the process, I don't think it officially sunk in that I was actually filming with NF," Cook said. "It was so worthwhile!
Anyone who enjoyed this year's St. Croix Central Homecoming festivities has the newly formed Student Senate to thank for pulling the event together despite being a brand new organization at the high school. "We want to get more students involved in student government and we wanted to try to model something after our own senate," principal Kurt Soderberg said. "With some changes being made and things shifting a little around the district, it just seemed like the right time to do that and make that change."
