The St. Croix Central school board approved a series of resignations and hirings as part of its consent agenda during its March 20 regular meeting. Two of those approvals saw the district’s athletic director, assistant high school principal and transportation director, Jeremy Kerg, resign, while the district hired Lindsay Jacobs as the new elementary assistant principal to replace Shelly Clay, who will be taking over as principal at the elementary school next fall.

New Richmond High School All of New Richmond High School senior Michael Skoyen's hard work has paid off, at least when it comes to being named a finalist in National Merit Scholarship program. "It has been a really humbling experience and I'm really excited to have been named a finalist," Skoyen said. "I put a lot of work in and it is nice that it is all finally paying off. It is kind of crazy. I never thought I'd be in the top 1 percent of the students in my class, so it is really cool."
New Richmond High School agriscience teacher Rachel Sauvola has been named the 2017 Wisconsin Association of Environmental Educators Formal Educator of the Year and will be attending a banquet on April 22 in Madison to receive her award. “Basically, it is for community involvement; it is for everything that we do that is environmental education,” Sauvola said. “It is also the power of infusing that into all the different content areas within the agricultural umbrella.
Along with its discussion of the old middle school and approval of the City of New Richmond’s new master plan for the New Richmond Library on the old middle school property, the New Richmond school board also heard updates about the SOAR Educational Center, the high school’s activities code and the pupil nondiscrimination report during its March 20 regular meeting.
The Somerset High School drama department put on a series of four performances for family, friends and community members from Friday, March 17, through Sunday, March 19. New Richmond School District After many months of back and forth and discussion of how the old middle school property should be used, the New Richmond School Board approved the City of New Richmond's New Richmond Library Master Plan at its March 20 regular meeting. "Although it wasn't perfect, this process went exactly as it should," said City Council member Craig Kittle. "You said what you thought, we said what we thought. We got the right thing done in the end. The process works."
It has been a few years since the New Richmond Middle School last had a Share Table during the student lunch periods, but the program has been brought back this school year by the middle school and Supervisor of School Nutrition Bobbie Guyette.
The streets were packed with people for the 2017 St. Patrick's Day parade held in New Richmond on Friday, March 17, despite the low temps, stiff breeze and cloud filled skies.
