After approving a short list of consent agenda items, the Hammond Village Board approved a series of agenda items, including the purchase of a replacement tractor, a service agreement for the south water tower and flowers for Davis Street. The first item approved by the board was the service agreement for the south water tower with Corrpro, which it done annually. The only change to the agreement was the removal of the language regarding liability, which will be handled by village attorney Tim Scott.
New Richmond Middle school
Somerset Middle School Somerset Middle School recognizes the December Students of the Month for their strong displays of character. Students selected for December exemplify the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Fifth grade Talon Lane is very organized and clearly wants not just to succeed, but to excel! On numerous occasions Talon has noticed a student who is in need of assistance and he has quickly stepped up to help! Talon is an asset to our class and to Somerset Middle School.
New Richmond High School To the surprise of many of the members of the New Richmond FFA Dairy Cattle Judging Team, the team was able to edge out the second place team for a first place finish at this year's World Dairy Expo in Madison Oct. 5. Along with their first place finish plaque, the team has also been invited to take part in the International Dairy Judging Tour, which includes stops in Scotland, Belgium, England and Germany.

St. Croix Central The St. Croix Central School District is proud to formally invite the community to its New Construction Open House scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16, from 4-8 p.m.
Friday Memorial Library The Friday Memorial Library will be one of many libraries and organizations throughout the country to honor the late Ezra Jack Keats on his 100th birthday. Keats' book, "The Snowy Day," is the new feature of the library's StoryWalk through Mary Park and will be on display during a candle lit Snowy Evening Storywalk on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 6 p.m.
On Dec. 7, the New Richmond School District Skills USA team competed at the District 1 Skills USA competition at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake. The following students represented NRHS: Gavin Brown, Catherine Magler, Tyler Parent, EJ Schauer, Eve Schmit, Nick Sorensen, Isaac Swanson, Josh VanDyk, and Bryan Utecht.
The New Richmond Middle School PAWS Animal Service Project group members recently sponsored a school-wide collection of cat food, dog food, and other pet supplies. Once the group picked up all the collected supplies they delivered the donations to Gregory's Gift of Hope.
VFW Auxiliary to New Richmond/St.Croix County Memorial Post No. 10818 recently held its annual swearing in of new members at its December meeting. Among the new members was Dylan Cordie, a young man who started helping the Auxiliary by filling a care package for the troops, with his own money, during summer vacation. At that time he found out he could join the Auxiliary when he turned sixteen and started saving. On Oct.
