Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College was named one of 150 community colleges eligible to compete for the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation's signature recognition of high achievement and performance in America's community colleges. WITC was selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 public two-year colleges nationwide to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize.
The Old Gem Theater's Young Performers Ensemble presents an original adaptation of "Aladdin" at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 26-27, and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The show is a "By Kids, For Kids" production and stars an all-student cast.
Calling all ghouls, goblins, witches, princesses and pirates! Whatever your costume this year, you and your family are invited to the Centre's ninth annual Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 28. The event is free.
Ras' on Main, located at 855 Davis St., Hammond, was established in 1996 by local man Glen Rasmussen. Rasmussen was born and raised in Hammond and graduated from St. Croix Central. He started young in the hospitality business at fast-food joints then moved up to sit-down restaurants. Ras' On Main was the result and Rasmussen's first goal — have great food.
The New Richmond Area Community is accepting applications for its fall grant cycle. NRAC recognizes that there are services and programs that originate and are provided outside of the school district that also benefit the community. The benefit of the services or programs to the community should be reflected in the grant application. All grant applications must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27. The Somerset Community Food Pantry is grateful as Somerset Safeway Bus Company has agreed to provide a bus for a "Stuff the Bus" food drive on Friday Oct. 13, during the Spartan's homecoming week. SCFP is asking each school in the Somerset School District to stuff the bus with food for families in the district who need help. Each of the schools will be given a list of the five most wanted items needed. The classroom with the most donated items will receive recognition.

Receive free and professional on-site assistance completing the 2017-18 FAFSA at the annual College Goal Wisconsin held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College-New Richmond Conference Center. Completing the FAFSA is the first and most important step in qualifying for aid. College Goal Wisconsin is a statewide and national event that provides free information and assistance to families who need to complete the FAFSA application, which is required for students seeking financial aid, such as grants and loans.
The Fall Splendor Art Meander is a self-guided tour of 19 galleries and studios in 11 towns and villages in northwest Wisconsin during the peak of the fall color change. The Meander celebrates the living and creating spaces of local artists and features the work of some of the area's best painters, potters, sculptors, crafters, upcycle artisans, tattoo artists, writers and musicians.
The City of New Richmond and the Town of Richmond will host a public open house 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the New Richmond Civic Center, 156 E. First St. The purpose of the open house is to discuss the cooperative effort between the Town of Richmond and the City of New Richmond to design and reconstruct 125th Street, which is tentatively scheduled for 2018.
