New Richmond One of the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce's fastest growing events is now just weeks away. The seventh annual Women's Business Luncheon and Expo will be held at R&D Catering in New Richmond Wednesday, May 3. An expo with more than 30 booths kicks off the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a formal program that runs from 1-4 p.m. This year's keynote address will be presented by Craig Culver, the co-founder of one of Wisconsin's iconic businesses — Culver's.
Baldwin Attend the St. Croix County Deer Advisory Council meeting and play a key role in deer management. The council will meet to discuss preliminary antlerless quota recommendations, permit levels and season structure options for the 2017 deer hunting season. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 20, at the DNR Service Center, 890 Spruce St., Baldwin. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide written or verbal feedback.
New Richmond Westfields Hospital & Clinic recently recognized 45 employees representing nearly 600 total cumulative years of service to the organization and the community. Employees recognized for reaching significant milestone anniversaries in 2016 are Lisa Olson, 35 years; Jean Bygd, Kathleen Hansen, Bonnie Howe and Pam Ince, 30 years; Sandy Brinkman and Jean Meier, 25 years; Laurie Harvieux, Paula Andersen, Cynthia Blader, Laura Westmoreland and Gwen Hop, 20 years.
St. Mary Catholic School Mary Harrold, a fourth grade student at St. Mary Catholic School in New Richmond, is the St. Croix County winner of the Agriculture in the Classroom essay contest. Wisconsin fourth- and fifth-graders were asked to write a 100- to 300-word essay with the theme, "Tell us about making maple syrup in Wisconsin." Mary is the daughter of Steve and Kate Harrold. Lori Vrchota is her fourth grade teacher at St. Mary.
American Red Cross Heroes are ordinary people whose actions embody the values of the Red Cross and demonstrate the potential that is in all of us. Whether they're stepping up during a medical emergency to provide assistance or helping others through a lifetime of volunteerism, heroes reflect what is best about our community. On Wednesday, March 15, three brothers from Deer Park will be receiving the American Red Cross Military Hero Award at an award breakfast to be held at the Florian Gardens Restaurant in Eau Claire.
New Richmond Beginning with the first small blood drive in December 2007, shortly after the September opening of New Richmond American Legion Post 80's new building, through the January 2017 blood drive, Post 80 has accounted for more than 2,500 units of blood destined for veterans' and civilians' needs. To accomplish this feat it is imperative that a trained staff of Legionnaires and a plan of operations be in place.
Community Voices Last week, the mayor, city council and city staff celebrated our board and commission members during our fourth annual Board and Commission Dinner, held this year at the New Richmond Regional Airport. The purpose of the evening is to recognize the more than 80 members who serve an important role in our local government. Our board and commission members have a wide range of backgrounds and unique skillsets, and include business owners, lifelong residents and active community volunteers.
New Richmond The men and women of the New Richmond Police Department were recently honored by the veterans with American Legion Butler-Harmon Post 80. The veterans recently invited all personnel from the police department for a gathering and recognition event held at the local post in New Richmond. In appreciation of the recognition event, New Richmond Police Chief Craig Yehlik wrote the following letter to those at the American Legion: "To members of the American Legion,
