I've heard from so many families that life is just crazy busy this summer! I know we live in the part of the country where summer is when we plan to fit nine months of fun into three months because the weather is typically good. Well, barring this year, as rain seems to be the dominant forecast. Our staff loves to hear about the ball games, the camping and vacations, and oh yes, even about all of those skeeter bites! Seriously, I had a little girl this week talk about her bites for five minutes and I loved all of it — so cute!
The New Richmond Middle School recently announced its fourth quarter honor roll and honor roll with distinction for the 2016-17 school year. Honor Roll Eighth grade: Tristan A. Ristow, Willa F. Randy Calleja, of the Tavern League of Wisconsin, recently presented a check for $500 to Jackie Waalen, chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer's event. This donation of $500 for the Walk to End Alzheimer's will be matched by Wisconsin Tavern League Foundation.
The New Richmond Area Centre will be offer Fitness in the Parks classes — free outdoor community exercise classes — one Tuesday a month throughout the local parks, starting June 20, and going through Aug. 8. The classes are part of a collaboration with the New Richmond Parks Department. "It's a great way to get outside and get in a workout," said community outreach manager Kristi Pupak. "By offering Fitness in the Parks, we're aiming to make a healthy lifestyle more accessible to folks by bringing exercise classes to the communities in which our members live and work."
Hillside Elementary is pleased to announce their new "One Million Word Club" and "Two Million Work Club" inductees for the 2016-2017 school year. These students have reached this milestone by reading over one million words through the Accelerated Reader program
Wisconsin Deer Park Deer Park Village Celebration, June 30-July 1. Friday night will finish off with a fireworks display at dusk and music and food until midnight. Sponsored by Deer Park Lions Club. Diamond Bluff
The annual Deer Park Village Celebration will take place over a two-day span from Friday, June 30 to Saturday, July 1. Friday night's festivities kick off with the grilled chicken dinner and the inaugural bean bag tournament, which both start at 5 p.m. The dinner includes chicken, coleslaw and chips. Hot dogs, brats, homemade donuts and deep-fried handmade cheese curds will be available both days.

Construction of the John Doar History Trail will soon begin, and preparations are being made for a series of events to be held Aug. 24-26 to celebrate the life and legacy of John Doar and the New Richmond community that he so deeply cherished.
