NRMS is proud to announce the winners of the 2017-18 National Geographic Geography Bee. Taking first place in this year's competition was Jovani Perez Sanchez, with Parker Stephens taking second place and Elva Crist placing third. Ten participants competed in the final round. The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students in grades 4-8 from 10,000 schools across the United States will compete in the 2018 National Geographic Bee
St. Croix Central Middle School helds its November Students of the Month ceremony Friday, Dec. 8, at the middle school. During the ceremony, teachers from each grade level read a page about the students stating why they were nominated for Student of the Month. Parents were then invited to take their child out to lunch. This month, Cheap Andy's provided a free lunch for the Students of the Month. Author Jacqueline West presented to all of the New Richmond elementary school fourth and fifth graders on Dec. 15 at New Richmond Middle School. West is the author of "The Books of Elsewhere," a series of five related books for upper elementary students. The main character is an 11-year-old girl named Olive who moves into an old house only to learn that the house does not want the new family to learn about its secrets.
This time of year brings a lot of excitement and energy, especially in an elementary school! But for some, it brings a lot of anxiety and uncertainty. We assume that with all the fun and excitement around the holidays that children and parents have no worries. However, we may be surprised to know that the flurry of activities that cause adults some anxiety — buying presents, cooking holiday dinners, and traveling long distances — may also be overwhelming for children.

If I were to envision the ideal school community, one where learning and character education are at the forefront of everything happening within the school walls, I would expect to see certain shared qualities of all those working in that district. Through every interaction with students, colleagues, parents, and other community members, I would see staff who are empathic, who clearly communicate, who are present and engaged, and who look to serve others. Above all, purposeful relationship building would be priority number one.
What is a Teen Advisory Board (TAB)? A TAB is a group of teens who participate in and influence the functioning of the library, especially teen programming. TAB is a way to have your opinions and suggestions heard.
New Richmond High School held its annual holiday concert on Monday, Dec. 18, in the high school auditorium.
Lauren Hauger is respectful, thoughtful, and kind. She is responsible and shows others that they matter. Lauren participates and puts forth her best effort in all she does. Lauren is a fantastic student and a pleasure to have in class.
