June 9, 1931 -Oct. 21, 2009 Richard E. "Sid" Gillman Sr., age 78, of New Richmond, died peacefully at home on Oct. 21, 2009. Born June 9, 1931, in Lebanon, Ohio, to Enos and Ruth Gillman. 25 year veteran in the U.S. Army. Sid was an avid hunter and fisherman. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Delores and Bonnie.
July 23, 1936 - Oct. 21, 2009 Everett Glaser Everett Frank Glaser was born July 23, 1936, to Henry and Minnie Glaser of Prairie Farm, Wis. His brief battle with cancer ended Oct. 21, 2009. He grew up on the family farm and went through school in Prairie Farm. He attended UW-River Falls, and graduated in 1958 with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education. He continued his education at UW-Stout, in Menomonie, and received his master's degree in Guidance and Administration in 1961. He married Marlene Broten on Oct. 15, 1955.
Mike Cody Michael Lawrence Cody, age 63, of New Richmond, died peacefully in his home after battling pancreatic cancer. Mike was born Sept. 22, 1946, the son of Ed and Leonette Cody of New Richmond. Upon graduating from NRHS and marrying his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Germain, Mike served in the Marines before returning to NR to raise his family and make a career out of the family cattle business.
Jan. 15, 1925 - Oct. 22, 2009 Alvin Wettig Alvin C. Wettig, age 84, of New Richmond, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Deerfield. He was born the son of Alfred and Helen (Amundson) Wettig on Jan. 15, 1925, in New Richmond. On August 16, 1947, Alvin married Myrtle M. Halberg in Amery, Wis. He worked for Whirlpool for 38 years and in retirement delivered Meals on Wheels for almost 10 years. Alvin made working his hobby along with collecting cars. He enjoyed having meals with friends and family and reading the newspaper every day.
April 12, 1980 - Oct. 21, 2009 Dan Casey Daniel John Casey, age 29, died at his home in Centuria, Wis., on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. Dan was born on April 12, 1980, on his parent's anniversary in New Richmond, Wis. He grew up on the family dairy farm east of New Richmond with his loving parents, Richard and Patricia Casey, two older brothers, Miles and Bryan Casey, and his younger sister, Maureen. Dan went to St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1998.
Nov. 7, 2009 Michael T. Ross Sr., age 57, of New Richmond, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. A private remembrance will be planned by his family. March 20, 1922 - Nov. 6, 2009 Ida M. Kruschke, age 87, of New Richmond, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Westfields Hospital. Ida was born the daughter of Gustav and Mabel (Olson) Freeberg on March 20, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minn. She graduated from Washburn High School and the Minnesota School of Business. Ida worked for Aetna Insurance Company until she married Richard Kruschke on Sept. 4, 1948. She moved to New Richmond where they farmed for many years. Ida was a homemaker, raised a family, and farmed.
July 11, 1923 - Nov. 2, 2009 Vernon Dull Vernon S. Dull, age 86, of Roberts, Wis., passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the St. Croix County Health Center in New Richmond. He was born the son of Roy and Ellen (Snicker) Dull on July 11, 1923, in Roberts. He graduated from Roberts high school in 1942 and went on to serve in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946, stationed on the USS Sumner. On Dec. 27, 1946, Vernon was united in marriage to Viola L. Jensen in Baldwin, Wis. Upon his return from the Navy, he farmed with his brother until 1969.
Nov. 11, 2009 C. Clifford Carroll, age 63, of Roberts, Wis., died suddenly and unexpectedly on Nov. 11, 2009, at the Hudson Hospital. Funeral services for Cliff Carroll were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Cross Lutheran Church, 1246 County Road TT, Roberts. Visitation began at 12 noon at the church. Services have been entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, Wis., and the Countryside Crematory of Baldwin, Wis.
Nov. 10, 2009 Elva J. Bakker, age 101, of Baldwin, died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Baldwin Care Center. Funeral service for Elva Bakker was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Christian Reformed Church in Baldwin. Burial was in the Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin as well as one hour prior to the services at church on Friday morning.
