Lillian L. Cassellius, age 88, of Glenwood City, Wis., died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at Glenhaven in Glenwood City. Lillian was born March 28, 1921 in the township of Springfield, Wis. to Frank and Abbie (Harris) Colburn. She married Walter Cassellius May 20, 1940 at St. John's Catholic Church. They farmed for 20 years before purchasing the White Owl Pavilion on Highway G, west of Glenwood City, from Lloyd and Ella Rossburg; which they operated for 13 years before returning back to farming. Lillian enjoyed gardening, canning and traveling.
Verna Julia Myers, 85, of North Hudson, Wis. died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at 9:20 a.m. at Christian Community Home in Hudson due to long-term complications with her leg wounds finally resulting in renal failure. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Aug. 20, at Bible Baptist Church in North Hudson, officiated by Pastor Mark Shore. Clarence Raymond Peterson peacefully entered into eternal life on Aug. 14, 2009 at the Amery Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 27, 1914 in Alden Township, Polk County, Wis. on his grandfather's homestead to the late Selma Burke Peterson Hansen and Otto Jahni Peterson. He was baptized as an infant into the Christian faith at Little Falls Lutheran Church. He attended Little Falls School through the eighth grade. Due to his father's illness, he helped his mother on the family farm until he began his career in farming.
Philip J. Kjeseth, age 78 of New Richmond, died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Phil was born the son of Arthur and Mildred (Gilbertson) Kjeseth on Aug. 1, 1931 in Amery, Wis. He graduated from Amery High School with the class of 1950. After high school, he started farming. On Dec. 8, 1951, Phil was married to Reta Krumm at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond. In February of 1953 he joined the Army and served at Camp Carson, Colo. and Fort Knox, Ky. After returning from the service, Phil went to work for Andersen Windows in the carpenter shop.
Mass of christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday August 27, 2009 at St. John's Catholic Church in Glenwood City, WI with Father William Murphy as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, on Wednesday August 26, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Michael Joseph O'Brien, age 53, of Hudson, beloved father, husband, brother and son, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at his home in Hudson, surrounded by his family. Mike was born the son of Judge Thomas J. and Elizabeth (Dodge) O'Brien on Sept. 4, 1955. He was a member of the Hudson High School class of 1974. Michael and Mary V. Stepan were married on March 19, 1983 at the Carmelite Monastery in Hudson. They were blessed with three children. Mike worked as an insert specialist/plant ambassador at St. Croix Press Inc. in New Richmond for many years.
David W. Jahnke of Mounds View, Minn. died Tuesday, Aug. 11, surrounded by his loving family at his home at the age of 71. David was born Jan. 18, 1938 in Star Prairie to Chester and Genevieve Jahnke. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1956. On Sept. 28, 1958 he married LaZona Olson in New Richmond. He retired from Sysco as a supervisor. David enjoyed working, cutting wood, nature, the Minmax Scooter Club and especially his family. David was preceded in death by his parents.
Howard Albert William Kleinschmidt, 65, of Cumberland died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Luther Midelfort Northland in Barron. He was born Oct. 21, 1943 in Cumberland, Wis. to Arthur and Clara (Jeska) Kleinschmidt. Howard was married to Susan Legacy on Feb. 17, 1968 in Turtle Lake and they later divorced.
Bonnie Joyce Brown, age 71 of Osceola, Wis., and Fort Myers Beach, Fla. passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2009 at Arthur Rose Assisted Living Home in New Richmond, Wis. Bonnie was born the daughter of Wesley and Nora (Constant) Peterson on Sept. 29, 1937. She was the younger of two children and graduated from Somerset High School in 1955. Bonnie was a homemaker, worked at the Arsenal in Shoreview, Minn. and many jobs cleaning in the Somerset area. She enjoyed being a homemaker and especially loved cooking and cleaning and cleaning some more.
Juli Lynnay Knegendorf passed away peacefully Aug. 12, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Juli Osborne was born June 12, 1962 to Gordon and Donna (James) Osborne in Spooner, Wis. Juli lived in the Cameron area through the eighth grade. She moved with her family to Menomonie in 1976, and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1980. Juli married Donald Knegendorf on June 14, 1980. In 1985 they took up a residence in Baldwin where they raised their family for the next 19 years. Five years ago they bought a small house near Bruce, Wis. Juli worked many years at the Hammond Nursing Home.
