Attorney Angela Olson accepted the 2018 Business Woman of the Year award Wednesday, May 5 to a standing ovation by her contemporaries.

Olson is well known for her involvement in a number of local and regional organizations including the Wisconsin Bar Association, The Family Resource Center of the St. Croix Valley, Grace Place, Rotary, Kiwanis, Westfields Hospital Foundation, The New Richmond Hockey Association, Community Foundation and the New Richmond Chamber of Commerce. During her six years on the Chamber, she helped launch the Women's Business Expo Luncheon and the Young Professionals of the St. Croix Valley.

Olson's nominator noted, "Angela continues to be a driving force in the New Richmond community. As a business owner, wife, mother of three and as an advocate for children with disabilities. Angela's commitment to New Richmond can be measured by her contributions of time, talent and support for so many causes."

In her acceptance address, Olson graciously acknowledged her success is possible because of the support of family, friends and colleagues.

"The reason that Eric and my mom and my dad have to be here as well is because it takes a village as we all know, to do everything we do. We cannot do it on our own. As much as I can say yes to everything it's because I have such great people around me. I'm in such great company with the current nominees and past winners. We're celebrating women which we should, but we couldn't do it without the other women around us and the men that are around us too. It's not about being a woman or a man, it's about being you and what you have inside of you. So thank you all. You all deserve this award as much as I do if not more," Olson said.

Other nominees included Kelli Cadwell (Simply Staffing), Carol DeYoung (Countryside Plumbing and Heating), Pastor Amelia Houdek (First Lutheran Church), Laura Jo Jarchow (St. Mary's School), Dr. Sue Johnson (St. Croix Chiropractic), Dori Marty (WITC), Beth Thompson (City of New Richmond), and Jillian Thorson (Lift Bridge Yoga).
