Modern Woodmen Honors Local Officer

Local police officer, Chris Gottfredson, River Falls, was recently recognized for countless hours of service to the community during a Modern Woodmen event at Meyer Middle School on Nov. 16.

Gottfredson was honored through Modern Woodmen's Hometown Hero Program for how he forms positive relationships with students in the School District of River Falls. He uses his humor and kindness to get to know all of the students. Officer Gottfredson provides safety trainings in schools each year and has provided all staff with ALICE training this fall. He is informative and supportive, helping staff and students strive to be proactive, rather than reactive in safety measures. Heroes are people that keep you safe and that is what Officer G does every day.

As part of the Hometown Hero Program, Modern Woodmen's River Falls representative presented Gottfredson with a certificate and a $100 award grant to be donated to the charitable organization of the honoree's choice. Gottfredson selected the River Falls Sunshine Fund to receive the donation.

"People like Officer G form the foundation of a strong community," says Lance Lueck, local Modern Woodmen representative. "Modern Woodmens Hometown Hero Program gives us the chance to thank those who selflessly give their time to make the world a better place."

Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, the fraternal financial services organizations Summit chapters, chapters and youth service clubs provide opportunities for members to take part in social and educational activities and volunteer projects to meet local needs.
