Prairieview Covenant Church's new interim pastor Tim Coyer has been serving in churches for the last 15 years in a variety of positions. For the first few years of service in the church, he was a youth pastor before becoming a worship pastor at two different churches in the Twin Cities.

"In my college years I worked at a Bible camp in southern Wisconsin and found that I actually liked hanging out with junior high students," Coyer said. "As I explored what this was about I had the realization that God was calling me to serve the church as my vocation. I was given the opportunity to serve at my home church as the youth director, as a chance to try out ministry, and found that I really loved it."

Coyer served at a few different churches while he obtained his undergraduate degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, and obtained his masters degree in Theological Studies from Bethel Seminary in 2016. He will be ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church this year.

"I have always been interested in helping people and organizations maximize their potential. I am excited to think about the ways that I can help Prairieview grow into a more healthy and missional church," said Coyer, who grew up in New Richland, Minn. "This is a great church with even greater potential to reach New Richmond and the rest of western Wisconsin."

As interim pastor, Coyer will help build a bridge between the church's former pastor and the church's next permanent pastor.

"With that in mind I hope to be a stable figure at the church and help the church be as healthy as it can be. I hope to create good relationships with the church and the community," Coyer said. "One of my goals is to strengthen the relationship between Prairieview and the Evangelical Covenant denomination.

"We will continue to be a family-focused church with great worship and biblical teaching."

Those who know Coyer best know he loves people and is always available for coffee or to talk on the phone. He also enjoys watching and playing sports, and his hobbies include gardening and cooking. Coyer and his wife, Bonnie, have three children: Tad, Evie and Jack.

"My family and I are very excited to be a part of the community at Prairieview."
