On Jan. 8, Kiwanis of New Richmond President Nathan Schoone presented Boy Scout Venture Crew 9460 with a $500 check, which was a dollar-for-dollar match of initial fundraising efforts by the Crew to help fund the group's trip to Acadia National Park in July.

Crew 9460 will embark on an eight-night high adventure trip to Acadia National Park, which is a 47,000-acre Atlantic coast recreation area primarily on Maine's Mount Desert Island.

"During the past two years, the Crew carefully planned, organized, and executed two separate high adventure trips that encompassed visits to four different national parks (Yellowstone N.P.; Grand Tetons N.P.; Theodore Roosevelt N.P., and Voyageurs N.P.) and two state parks (Makoshika S.P. and Custer S.P.)," said Crew advisor Jeff Kuhlman.

A Venturing Crew is a fun-filled, co-ed organization run, organized and executed by teens, for teens, designed to help develop leadership and teamwork through outdoor adventures and unique outings and activities. Although co-ed, it's a separate and senior division of the Boy Scouts of America. Kiwanis of New Richmond has partnered with Crew 9460 for the past four years as its chartering organization.
