Online giving available for Renew Somerset Library Campaign
The Renew Somerset Library Campaign to expand Somerset Public Library has received a total of 131 pledges and gifts totaling $1,085,853. Thirty-six launch event guests gave gifts and pledges on March 22 with another 46 given since the launch.
"We are very excited about our great start and continuing generosity with more than $1 million received and increasing daily," said campaign co-chair Kay Walsh. "We hope more individuals and businesses will consider a gift through our new online portal on our website, make a pledge at the library or send a check. We have not reached the matched amount yet, but our donors are going to extend the deadline to May 1 to encourage giving if you have not yet given."

The library building committee is beginning to work on the first details of removing and selling some of the items in the recently acquired buildings prior to being demolished. The Main Street parcels will be sold for commercial use to encourage downtown development. The library trustees have set the requirement of securing 75 percent of the goal before designing the final plans for the expansion.
"The Steering Committee is working to visit with as many donors face-to-face as possible; however, we are a small group, and are doing the best we can. If donors wish to give now, this will help us move more quickly in finalizing the design process," said co-chair Rita Lawson.
