The Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation has given a $200,000 gift to the Renew Somerset Library Campaign. To date, this gift is the second largest pledge received.
This announcement propels the campaign pledges and gifts secured to $1,585,000 and includes approximately 200 pledges and gifts secured since January 2018.
"We are delighted commitments of all amounts keep coming to help us reach our goal and that we have been able to secure such a large amount in less than one year," said Kay Walsh, Somerset Public Library Board of Trustees President and Campaign Co-chair. "The Library Board of Trustees, staff and our patrons continue to be encouraged with the tremendous support the Somerset area is showing for our dynamic and evolving library.
"The Board of Trustees has approved moving forward with design documents when pledges have reached 75 percent of the total goal of $2.5 million or $1,875,000. We are confident we will reach that important figure so we can design the building and bid the construction project. With these figures in hand, we would be able to identify in-kind gifts from area businesses who wish to be part of our historic library expansion."
