NR, Hammond police to host National Night Out events

Communities all over the country will be out in force on Tuesday, Aug. 1, to celebrate National Night Out.

Locally, the New Richmond and Hammond Police Departments will each host their own events on Tuesday, which will include the chance to meet with local police, fire and EMS workers as well as food, music, games and much more.

The New Richmond Emergency Services Night Out event will go from 5-7 p.m. at the New Richmond Police Department (1443 Campus Drive), a change from last year’s event, and will include the opportunity to check out emergency vehicles, a K9 demo by St Croix County and a dunk tank to dunk an officer, firefighter or EMS worker for a donation. Food being served includes hotdogs, chips and beverages for a freewill donation to benefit the School Supply Program and Halos of the St Croix Valley. The department will also offer bicycle safety table to talk with kids about riding safely.

The Hammond Police Department will also host National Night Out activities from 6-8 p.m. at the Hammond Village Park. The event will feature a K-9 demonstration, giant slip-n-slide, food, games, music, displays, balloon animals and face painting. The K-9 demonstration will take place at about 7 p.m.
