Memorial Day services set

This year, as in the past, the New Richmond American Legion Post 80 and the VFW Post 10818 will be holding Memorial Day services Monday, May 28..

The schedule of services for New Richmond Team One is:

• Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, 9 a.m.

• Oakland Cemetery, 9:45 a.m.

• New Richmond Public Cemetery, 10:30 a.m.

• Knowles Avenue Bridge, 11 a.m.

The schedule of services for New Richmond Team Two is:

• Cylon Methodist Cemetery, 9:30 a.m.

• St. Bridget's Cemetery at Stanton, 10 a.m.

• Calvary Cemetery at Deer Park, 10:30 a.m.

At 11:30 a.m. both teams will gather at the Veterans Memorial Park in New Richmond where a program, including all veteran groups, will be held.

Following the program at Memorial Park, a lunch will be served at the American Legion Post building.

Memorial Day observances in Somerset will once again begin at Legion Post 111 with a breakfast for all Legion, Sons of the American Legion members, Auxiliary members and families from 7:30–8:30 a.m. provided by the Legion. A church service will begin at St. Anne’s at 9 a.m., followed by a cemetery service at 9:45 a.m., after which the Legion will march to the Apple River Bridge where the Auxiliary will drop a wreath into the river and a salute will be fired. The group will continue to Veterans Park and then to Hillside Cemetery for brief ceremonies. Following the parade there will be a brief reception at the Legion for participants and the band. At approximately noon, the honor guard and color guard will proceed to Emanuel and Pioneer Cemeteries and then to Boardman Cemetery.

American Legion Post 432 will hold a cemetery ceremony at the Warren Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday, before heading to Hammond for a full military service at the library starting at 11 a.m.
