Friends of the Library announce dates of future events

The Friends of the Hammond Community Library — an established 50 (c)(3) group that advocates and fundraises for the library — is currently raising funds for a new library building and will host several programs throughout the rest of the year.

Upcoming events

Monday, Sept. 10

Burger night, 5-8 p.m. — Enjoy a burger and fries for $5 at Parkside Restaurant and Bar (555 Davis St.)

Saturday, Oct. 13

Pancake breakfast, 8-11 a.m. — Enjoy a yummy breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice. More details to come. Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1250 Broadway St.

Tuesday, Nov. 27

Arctic and winter wonderland stuffed animal workshop, 5-8 p.m. — Make your very own arctic or winter wonderland stuffed friend. Those planning on attending must register for the event, which costs $20 per stuffed friend.

Mondays, Oct. 1-Nov. 5

Woodburning with Kimmer, 6-8 p.m. — Join Kimmer Prosser in a woodburning/pyrography six-week workshop. Prosser will guide you through the process of woodburning and being able to create your own unique crafts with the skills she is teaching. Must register. $30 per person-includes all supplies.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Skull mirror craft, 3 p.m. — Make a unique Halloween decoration for your own home or front door, a spooky skull mirror. Must register. $13 per person-includes all supplies.

Thursday, Oct. 25

Dee Dee Koss painting night, 6 p.m — Enjoy an evening with Dee Dee Koss as she walks you through a fun and simple woodcraft project. Must register. Cost not yet determined.

Tuesday, Dec. 11

Wreath making, 6-8 p.m. — Make a holiday wreath this year with Rochel from the Baldwin Greenhouse. Must register. $10 per wreath-includes form, boughs, pinecones and ribbon.
