Northern Invasion to rock Somerset

As the cold weather sinks in, it’s not too early to start thinking about the warmer months ahead. One of the region’s premier events to celebrate the end of winter is Somerset’s annual rock festival, Northern Invasion. Held Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13 at the Somerset Amphitheater, this year’s event appears to be in for its best year yet.

Headlining are A Perfect Circle and Avenged Sevenfold on Saturday and Alice in Chains and Tool on Sunday. Other notable bands include: Breaking Benjamin, Stone Temple Pilots, The Used, Black Veil Brides and 10 Years.

“(It was) very important for us to step up the talent this year,” Danny Wimmer Presents Executive Vice President Gary Spivack said. “We felt like we took a step back last year.

“We stacked the lineup, three stages a day. This is the only place to see two Maynard (singer for Tool and A Perfect Circle) shows; back to back nights is incredible.”

With over 12 hours of music each day on three different stages, plenty of time is also available to enjoy up-and-coming bands such as Parkway Drive and Red Sun Rising among others.

In addition to an incredible band lineup, there is top tier camping on-site and food offerings from top regional and national restaurants and vendors. Northern Invasion has partnered with Southern Hospitality Concessions to provide some of the best man food available. If you’re thirsty, plenty of local craft beers will be on-site as well.

“Music is the top priority, secondary entertainment is a very close second,” Spivack said. “We are painstakingly detailed at what we offer. We want the Invader to have the best food, best beverages, best amenities for the overall experience.”

Tickets are on sale now at New for Northern Invasion this year, each ticket price level has a limited number of tickets available, so attendees can save more by buying earlier. Ticket prices will automatically move to the next price level once a price allotment sells out.

Current ticket prices are: Weekend VIP: $229.50 plus fees, weekend general admission: $99.50 plus fees, and Monster Energy weekend general admission four-pack: $319 plus fees. Weekend hotel and camping packages are also on sale now.

The Northern Invasion campgrounds will be open Friday, May 11, through Monday, May 14. Festival doors open at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Northern Invasion is produced by AEG Presents and Danny Wimmer Presents and is part of the World’s Loudest Month concert series, which features the biggest names in rock music performing in six U.S. events during five consecutive weekends in April and May.
