Church group lends a big helping hand

First Lutheran Church of New Richmond sent 17 youth and adults on the June 2013 mission trip to St. Louis.

The group did various service work, including working at Habitat for Humanity in Dubuque, Iowa where they landscaped the yard.

The group then worked at The Bridge for Homeless People in St. Louis, where they had the opportunity to get to know the guests and visit and work with them.

The group also put together over 200 personal care kits that were handed out to guests as they left from dinner.

They also made a stop at the St. Louis Area Food Bank where they processed 800 cases of frozen food, which equaled 20,000 pounds and was enough to provide 16,327 meals.

The group’s final stop was to bring the trip back to New Richmond and participate in the local Relay for Life.

The group also had the opportunity to visit the St. Louis Gateway Arch and zoo while on the trip.

Church leaders wanted to thank everyone in the community who supported the group with prayers, financially, and with donations for the personal care kits.

The community is invited to hear more about the youth mission trip Sunday, July 14, at 8, 9:15 or 10:30 a.m. during the church’s Youth Sunday.
