Relatives get help visiting a Wisconsin Marine wounded in Afghanistan

Relatives of a southern Wisconsin Marine are spending this Good Friday at a naval hospital near Washington.

Capt. Jacob Janes of Evansville lost both his lower legs a week ago when he stepped on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

The Marines paid to fly Janes' parents and sister to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. And according to stepsister Jennifer Jordan, Midwest Airlines provided the airfare for a stepmother and another sister.

Jordan said the family probably could have paid for the trip themselves but it would have been a financial strain, and the family was grateful to the Marines and Midwest for helping out.

Janes was supposed to serve about two more weeks in Afghanistan.

Jordan says his recovery won't be easy but he's tough, and he's got a lot of support to help him make it through.
