Gunman holds-up Cedar Creek Inn; suspect arrested

One suspect has been arrested and another is being sought in an early morning armed robbery of the Cedar Creek Inn near Star Prairie.

According to St. Croix County Sheriff Dennis Hillstead, a lone gunman entered the local bar and grill at around 7 a.m. Sunday. Two employees were inside the establishment at the time.

The gunman was wearing a heavy coat and had a T-shirt wrapped around his head. He was holding a handgun and ordered one employee to hand over all the business's cash.

After the employee responded to the demand, the armed robber fled in an unknown vehicle. The vehicle headed west on County Road H and south on County Road CC.

Hillstead said the heavy coat and T-shirt were recovered along County Road CC.

"We have taken one person into custody and are currently seeking a second suspect," Hillstead reported Tuesday morning. "No charges have been filed yet so no names have been released."

Hillstead said neither the gun used in the robbery nor the money has been recovered by law enforcement yet.

The Sheriff's Department is continuing the investigation.
