UPDATE: Identity of victim in Wednesday's collision released

Eugene H. Sempf, 73, was the man who died Wednesday morning after a dump truck struck his pickup truck in the town of Glenwood.

Online court records show Sempf's address as 1418 Red Hawk Ct. in New Richmond.

Sempf apparently failed to stop or pulled from a stop sign on 130th Avenue into the path of the larger truck traveling on CTH D, southwest of Glenwood City.

The 2001 dump truck owned by Woodville-based Albrightson Trucking was southbound on County Road D when Sempf's 2000 Dodge Dakota headed west, pulled into its path.

The driver of the dump truck, 30-year-old Menomonie resident Craig G. Groepper, was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Dept. said Sempf was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The fatal crash -- the 10th death this year on St. Croix County roads -- remains under investigation by the sheriff’s and medical examiner’s offices.

State Patrol truck inspectors were also at the scene Wednesday.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Sempf are pending with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
