Man killed in western Wisconsin farm accident

A St. Paul man was killed last weekend after an apparent farm accident in western Wisconsin.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office on Monday identified the victim as 51-year-old Robert D. Pooler. According to authorities, Pooler was killed Saturday, April 23, while working at a farm in the 2300 block of 190th Street in the town of Milltown.

Deputies and EMS crews were called at 8:40 p.m. for a farm implement accident. Authorities said Pooler appeared to have been attempting to "arc-start" a tractor by crossing the terminals of a solenoid. The action set the tractor in motion and ran over Pooler.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Polk County Medical Examiner.
