Sheriff: Sex offender living in Burkhardt

Sean J. Kelley

A convicted sex offender has moved into a rural Hudson apartment, St. Croix County authorities announced Tuesday.

St. Croix County Sheriff John Shilts said in a statement that Sean J. Kelley has moved to 1102 County Road A in Burkhardt. He distributed the notice “to help community members be aware of Mr. Kelley and to be vigilant about the safety of family and friends.

“This notice is not intended to cause fear,” the statement reads. “Should you have any questions, please contact the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and we will help you with any questions or concerns.”

No community notification meeting has been scheduled. Shilts said deputies are spreading the word by going door-to-door in Burkhardt. If there’s interest, there will be a “full-blown community meeting,” he said.

According to Wisconsin court records, Kelley, 38, was convicted in 1998 of second-degree sexual assault of a child in Marathon County. Records indicate he was released from prison in 2003.

Kelley, whose alias is listed as “Dopey Kelley,” is compliant with the terms of his release, according to the state’s corrections department.

The announcement lists Kelley as a 6-foot-tall, 275-pound white man with brown hair and blue eyes.
