The New Richmond Middle School has made it a focus this year to give back.

In the fall, the school raised $2,700 to donate to the hurricane relief funds in Texas and Florida. Students were so gracious in their donations and the winning class was able to enjoy a movie and popcorn to celebrate.

This winter, the school decided to make fleece blankets to donate to the Cancer Center of Western Wisconsin in New Richmond. This was organized by Karen Stellrecht and her goal was to have each homeroom make one blanket, which would equal 48 blankets donated.

The students and staff ran with this project and the school ended up donating 92 blankets. Students were selected to help deliver the blankets and it was a great learning experience for these kids to see where they go and to hear how they help the patients.
