Hammond Village Board approves pay raises for village admin, police
Following a closed session at the Monday night, Oct. 8, Hammond Village Board meeting, trustees announced information regarding their contracts with the police department and the village administrator.
According to the new agreements, members of the police department will receive a 3 percent raise and will pay half of the health insurance premium increase not to exceed the union tier increase.
The village administrator will also receive a 3 percent pay increase and pay the union tier scale for health insurance.
Trustees approved a proposal from Sambatek worth $70,000 to develop a plan to resolve issues at the wastewater treatment facility, obtain any necessary Department of Natural Resources approvals and manage bidding out the required work. Work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by August 2019.
Trustees also approved $750 payable to Corrpro to perform annual maintenance on the south water tower. The work is due to be completed sometime next year.
Following a public hearing preceding the regular board meeting Monday night, trustees approved a proposal amending village zoning code Section 78-203 adding a provision allowing for the retail sale of products manufactured, processed or packaged at an adjoining facility as a conditional use in the "M-1" Manufacturing and Industrial District.
