Two cops, administrative aide gone from Prescott department

Three former Prescott police employees are no longer with the department — including two officers who reportedly violated policy.

City Administrator Jayne Brand confirmed Monday, Aug. 21, that former officers Bryan Massman and Ryan Most are no longer employed with the department. A third employee, former administrative assistant Erin Most — Ryan Most’s wife — is also gone from the police department, the city confirmed.

Brand did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding their departures and would not confirm reports that they have been terminated, but noted the three employees have been provided a grievance process.

RiverTown Multimedia has submitted a data request from the city seeking more information on the circumstances surrounding their departures from the city.

Prescott Police Commission member Bill Pryor said Monday that the two officers were in their probationary status and that they were dismissed from the department. He said the decision was prompted by a “policy procedure violation.”

“It was significant,” he said.

Pryor said the employment decision was up to Interim Police Chief Rob Funk, who assumed leadership after former Chief Gary Krutke died Aug.5. There was no formal dismissal action to be taken by the commission, Pryor said, since — as probationary employees — the officers weren’t represented by the police union.

He said he could not comment if a complaint involving the two officers came before the commission.

Pryor said he didn’t have information on the circumstances surrounding Erin Most’s dismissal.

Funk, who Brand said was serving as a pallbearer in Krutke’s funeral on Monday in Florida, was not available for comment. Pryor said the short-staffed department will be assisted by part-time officers.

According to minutes from the July 31 Prescott Personnel Committee meeting, the panel adjourned to closed session, where it discussed and later unanimously passed a motion for “possible employee dismissal.” The Police Commission met Aug. 7 and voted to have Funk “handle the personnel issues as discussed in closed session passed unanimously via roll call vote,” according to those minutes.

Brand said she could not confirm whether that personnel decision related to the three police department employees.
