Crowning Achievements to host 10th annual pageant, raffle Nov. 3
Crowning Achievements is a 501(c)(3) in Hudson serving men and women with special needs in the St. Croix Valley of Minnesota, Wisconsin and beyond.
The organization will host its 10th annual pageant and raffle on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. at Faith Community Church (250 Paperjack Drive) in New Richmond. Immediately following the pageant will be a refreshment social time and the raffle. Crowning Achievements is a non-profit, with 100 percent of funds raised going back into the program to keep it cost-free for participants.
The pageant is free; doors will open at 1 p.m. to view raffle items and purchase raffle tickets. For each non-perishable food item brought in to donate to local food shelves, attendees will receive a free raffle ticket (up to five tickets). During this time, attendees can also meet past royalty, current candidates and area royalty, take pictures in the photo booth and see what CA is all about.
CA hosts fun events each month to foster awareness and acceptance of participants, as well as to promote their social circle and skills.
"All of this we do in hopes of increasing their integration in society as well as advancing and increasing their employment opportunities," said committee president Kym Lokken. "This year we have 18 women and five men participating in the pageant with many others that are part of the monthly program.
"We are always looking for more participants and volunteers to join Crowning Achievements for our monthly events as well as the pageant. Publicity definitely helps that goal. Not to mention our future royalty would love to have a huge audience cheering them on!"
