Dorothy E. Sontag

Dorothy (Dolie) E. Sontag passed from this life to eternal life on March 5, 2018. She was born Dorothy Elizabeth Olsen on July 30, 1922 in Blue Earth Township Minnesota to Esther and Alfred Olsen. Dorothy attended Bethesda School of Nursing in St Paul, MN graduating with an RN Degree in 1945. She worked at various hospitals including Bethesda and Fairview.

In 1952 a former classmate, Martha Sontag Orf, introduced Dolie to Walter (Pecks) Sontag of rural Somerset. They were married in 1953. The had two children, Edward and Ruth. After raising a family, Dolie returned to nursing in 1968 at the Stillwater Clinic, retiring in 1986,

After retiring Pecks and Dolie traveled to Alaska, Nova Scotia, Northern Europe and the British Isles.

Dolie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful person to chat with, she loved the simple country life and meeting new people. She was able to live in her own home until 2016 when she suffered a stroke.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walter. She is survived by her son, Edward (Suzette) Sontag of Somerset, her daughter Ruth (Thomas) Francis of Hudson, grandson Matthew Sontag of Somerset, and granddaughter Abby Francis of Bethesda MD. She is also survived by two sisters in law, Betty Roettger of Mankato, MN and Marian Hill of Ft Lauderdale, FL, brother in law Ivan Roettger many cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday March 16 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Burkhardt, WI and the Memorial Service is Saturday March 17th at 11:00, also at Redeemer Lutheran. Spring Internment will be at the Hillside Cemetery.
