Eugene "Gene" Abner Hexum
"Gene" Eugene Abner Hexum age 91 of New Richmond, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday August 30, 2018 at the St. Croix Health Center surrounded by his family after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born on March 22, 1927 in Atchison, Kansas to Abner & Esther (Carlson) Hexum. Gene loved being with his family, traveling, wood working, fishing and Spooky (his cat) He was one of those guys who could fix anything and loved to tinker out in his garage. He worked for the City of New Richmond in the Light and Water Department for 36 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn (Jarchow) Hexum, brother, Wally Hexum and his sister, Joyce Butterfuss. Gene is survived by his daughter, Pam (Spencer/Link) (Marty), of Menomonie; son, Kirk Hexum & (Linda Stark), of Star Prairie, grandchildren, Tyler Spencer (Erin House) of Eau Claire and Michaela Mensing (Derrick) of Menomonie; step grandchildren, Jessie (Link) McCoy (John) of Minot, ND, Julia (Link) Sanchez (Corey) of Waxahachie, Texas, Becky (Stark) Timm (Rob) of Spring Valley, Wisconsin; nine great grandchildren; sister, Pat Turner and also many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6:00 PM - Tuesday September 4, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The visitation will be held for two hours prior to the Mass at the Church. Military Honors will be provided by the New Richmond American Legion. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Gregory's Gift of Hope or the Dunn County Humane Society.
