Kathleen Mae (Cimfl) Suennen

Kathleen M. Suennen passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Hudson Hospital in Hudson, Wisconsin. She was born December 22, 1928, in Owatonna, Minnesota, the daughter of Emil and Ella (Krahulec) Cimfl. As a young woman, she helped on the family farm until age 16 when she moved to town to work in a restaurant. She found her love of travel at age 17 when she went out to California and Oregon with a girlfriend and uncle for a month.

When she came back to the area, she met the love of her life, Bernard Suennen. They married on January 24, 1948 in Barron, Wisconsin and lived there while planning to start their family. Kathleen worked at Munsingwear, then SUPAK sewing Weather Winkie snowsuits. After the birth of their daughter, Debbie, the couple moved to the Milwaukee area for Bernard's work with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. They lived there briefly and moved back to the area to live near family. A son, Larry was born just prior to moving to New Richmond in 1958 where they made friends quickly.

Family and friends were important to her. Kathleen enjoyed hosting family events and took pride in preparing the meals she made with "lots of love". She received and wore the name "Grandma" proudly when her first grandchild, Jennifer was born. Her heart grew when grandchildren, Becky and David followed. Many in the area know her as "Grandma". She treasured the special time with her grandchildren. Her heart grew even larger when great grandsons, Keaton and Conner were born. As a homemaker, she had enjoyed tending her gardens, canning her harvest, making jellies, baking and sewing. She enjoyed music, dancing, feeding the birds and dog sitting with her little 4 legged friends. Kathleen and Bernard loved traveling and visited many countries around the world as well as multiple destinations in the United States. She had a competitive nature and enjoyed playing games of all kinds. Many remember seeing her on her daily walks with Bernard. The couple volunteered at the St. Croix Health Center, Immaculate Conception Church, American Legion activities and were members of the New Richmond Car Club.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ella Cimfl; husband, Bernard Suennen; brothers, Melvin Cimfl and Gordon Cimfl; sisters and their spouses, Elaine (Delbert) Ekenstedt and Leona (Walter) Koser. She was also preceded by brother-in-law, Joe Suennen; and sister-in-law, Leona (Suennen) (Alfred) Heintz.
