Friday Memorial Library announces fine amnesty in September

Friday Memorial Library assistant librarian Britta Kingwill

September is a great month to welcome you back, not just to the routine of school and work but to the library as well. We hope that you've been utilizing all that the library has to offer year round, but we know that some of our patrons haven't visited us lately. I can think of so many good reasons why you haven't been to the library. For one, there just aren't enough hours in the day. But if you've been avoiding the library due to overdue fines or charges, we would like to welcome you back.

In the spirit of reconnecting patrons with the library and ensuring access for all, Friday Memorial Library is happy to announce a period of fine amnesty for the month of September. During this time, all late fees will be waived on New Richmond materials returned to Friday Memorial Library, no matter how long overdue, as long as they are returned in good condition (according to library standards).

Currently, over 500 local patron accounts are blocked due to billed materials. Our goal is to reinstate library privileges to our patrons and recover overdue materials. Unlike other fine promotions, such as "Food for Fines" or our recent "Back to School Sale," patrons don't have to do anything other than return their overdue items. We will also be offering free replacement library cards to all for Library Card Sign Up Month.

While it will be nice to get our materials back, what we really want is you, our patrons, back!
