Friday night was very good for St. Croix Central athletics.

Panther junior Ryan Larson advanced to the WIAA Division 2 state championship match and the St. Croix Central girls basketball team advanced to the Division 3 regional championship game.

Larson reached the Division 2 195-pound state championship match by pinning Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau's Bryce Burns 1:12 into the state semifinal match on Friday night. Larson will face Prairie du Chien senior Stephen Ronnfeldt in the state championship match on Saturday night. Ronnfeldt reached the state title match by defeating Prescott's Ty Sanford, 6-3, in the state semifinals on Friday. Larson defeated Sanford in overtime in the sectional championship match.

In girls basketball, St. Croix Central broke the game open early in defeating Baldwin-Woodville, 69-25. The Panthers sprang out to an 18-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game and continued to roll from there. Central was led by senior Mia Krogseng, who finished with 27 points.

Central's girls will host Bloomer in the Division 3 regional final on Saturday. The game time has been moved up to 5:45 p.m. due to the impending storm that is scheduled to hit the region.
