The Somerset High School cheer team participated at the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches) State Cheer Championship on Saturday, March 3 in La Crosse.
This was the first time a team from Somerset competed at the tournament. The Spartans competed against 15 other teams in the non-tumble division during the preliminary round and advanced to the finals ranked third.
During finals, the team had their best performance of the season and earned fourth place during the final round of competition. They were 0.5 points below third place and 3.2 points below first place.
"As coaches, we are beyond thrilled about the outcome of our first State Cheer experience. Making finals and placing fourth is a huge accomplishment and we could not be more proud of our team," said Somerset coach Tasia Berger.
