Monday's Results: New Richmond soccer gets offensive, tops Somerset 9-3

Stinging from a 3-0 loss against River Falls on Saturday, the New Richmond girls soccer team took the offensive in their home opener on Monday.

The Tigers rolled to a 9-3 win over Somerset in the Middle Border Conference opener for both teams.

Eight different Tigers scored goals in the game. Junior Amelia Feuerer scored twice, with seven Tiger teammates notching a goal.

Anna Rybacki, Hannah Waskosky and Anya Swanson scored Somerset's goals. New Richmond led the game 3-1 at halftime.

In other action Monday:

-- The New Richmond boys tennis team lost at Eau Claire Regis, 4-3. The Tigers got one win in singles, with Trent Ziebol earning a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win at one singles. New Richmond's one doubles team of Herbie Struss and Tyler Blattner earned a 6-3, 6-1 win. Luke Melby and Quentin Hayes earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at three doubles. 

-- The Somerset baseball team defeated St. Croix Central 11-4. Central also suffered a 7-4 loss against Baldwin-Woodville.

-- St. Croix Central softball earned its first Middle Border Conference win of the season, defeating Somerset 20-10. Somerset also suffered a 2-0 loss to Baldwin-Woodville.
