Somerset senior Anna Rybacki had a record-breaking spring for the Spartan girls’ soccer team.
That success has led to Rybacki being the first Somerset girls soccer player to receive all-state honors.
Rybacki was an honorable-mention selection to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association all-state team that was announced last Wednesday.
Rybacki was named the Most Valuable Player of the Middle Border Conference this spring. She led the conference with 32 goals, and she also assisted on 18 other goals. Her goal total is a Somerset girls program record. Rybacki was the only MBC player selected for the all-state team.
The only other Somerset soccer player to ever receive all-state honors was Jon Bucklew, who was an honorable mention boys’ all-state player in 2012 and 2013.
The regard to which Rybacki is held in Somerset is reflected in the comments of Somerset soccer coach Bill Roll.
“The honor is incredibly well deserved,” Roll said. “She has worked tremendously hard as a three-sport athlete and was never content with where she was at or what she achieved. She set an outstanding example for not only the other girls in our soccer program, but all the female athletes in our school.”
