The panel of art educators chose only 45 medalists after weighing equally the artwork and the artists' statement that completed the phrase “With Art I Can Connect To… .” Stevens completed the phrase by saying: “With art I can connect to my emotions when creating art a sad time in my life, and my cat’s life. I noticed she was suffering badly and it was hard to watch her. I tried to capture my cat in a better state than her last couple of days.” Submitted photo

New Richmond Middle Schools student Elva Crist recently completed in the State National Geographic Geography Bee in Madison. In order to make it to the state competition, participants had to win a local Geography Bee and then take a state qualifying test. While not moving on to the final rounds, Crist finished toward the top of her group. Visiting the Capitol was another fun stop on her adventure. Submitted photo
